The National Internet Observatory is creating a scientific record of the American experience online. Housed at Northeastern University and backed by $15.7M from the National Science Foundation, NIO provides researchers with data from thousands of volunteers as they use their phones and the internet every day.

When big questions about AI, technology, and society arise, NIO will have the data to answer them.
